There are some love stories that feel cinematic from the very beginning and Haley and Josh’s was exactly that. Like a favorite romcom, their love story started at a baseball game at Wrigley Field.
From exchanged glances in the bleachers to a proposal back in that very stadium, their story has always been layered with meaning, intention, and a little bit of bold courage. So it felt perfectly fitting that when they chose to say “I do,” they would design a day just as thoughtful; Blending emotion, legacy, and the beauty of the coast they’ve grown to love so much.
In April, surrounded by spring air and the people who mean the most to them, they were married at the beautiful Wyndham Newport Hotel in Middletown, Rhode Island.
Haley spent the morning surrounded by her bridesmaids and her mom. There was an excited energy during those “getting ready” hours. Music was playing, laughter filled the air, the final touches were coming together and there was a building anticipation that could be felt by all. We had so much fun capturing silly candid of Haley and her girls in their matching silk pjs… popping bubbly and cheering loudly as our bride sipped from the bottle. Before heading to the bridal suite to get dressed, Haley had one more thing to do. She opened a heartfelt gift from Josh that brought tears to her eyes.
Before the ceremony, Haley chose to share a few incredibly meaningful first looks.
First she surprised her dad. He came into the bridal suite and immediately lost it, holding her tight in his arms he chocked back the tears of a very proud father.
Following that intimate moment with her dad, haley stepped out to meet her bridesmaids in her wedding gown. The girls squealed in delight as she twilled around like a princess giving them the full effect. It wasn’t long before those happy cheers turned to happy tears as it hit them all their best friend and sister was getting married that afternoon.
One of the most touching details was her veil; Haley’s “something borrowed.” It belonged to one of her bridesmaids. When it was placed into her hair before the ceremony, emotion filled the room all over again. It was more than an accessory it was legacy, friendship, and love woven into tulle adorned with elegant little pearls.
As Haley walked down the aisle, Josh held back tears… the kind that sit right at the surface and take everything in you to steady. With a wide smile spread across his face he waited in anticipation.
They had spoken often about what mattered most: having everyone they love in one place. And in that moment, that dream was unfolding right in front of them.
Their outdoor ceremony under the pergola was everything they wanted and more, the soft sea breeze blew through the blue drapery and brought the smell of the salty air with it. They exchanged their vows with the warmest smiles and fully belly laughs. The joy was palpable.
Because Haley and Josh have fallen in love with Newport, they knew they wanted water woven into their wedding portraits.
So we stepped away to the dramatic rocky shoreline of Purgatory Chasm, where the Atlantic meets weathered stone in the most breathtaking way.
The wind caught Haley’s veil.
The waves crashed behind them.
The blue tones of the water echoed the soft blues in the bridesmaids dresses and their florals.
There’s something powerful about photographing love beside the ocean. It reminds you how small and how significant a moment can be all at once. Their portraits felt grounded, romantic, and timeless; editorial but entirely them.
The ballroom at the Wyndham was glowing beneath the twinkle lights cascading overhead (a staple and one of our favorite features of the space), lush hydrangeas and blue delphinium lining the tables, and gold frames adding warmth and refinement.
Their new married name shone in lights — beautifully displayed by It’s Lit — a statement piece that felt celebratory and personal all at once. and the sound of live music filled the air as their violinist played for their guests delight.
The entire space felt soft yet vibrant. Elegant, but alive.
What stood out most wasn’t just the florals or the ocean backdrop or even the dramatic first dance.
It was the way Haley and Josh looked at each other, with so much love in their eyes, a sense of knowing in each embrace.
Their story has always been about showing up. About choosing one another. About building something intentional and full of heart.
And in April, under twinkle lights and beside the Atlantic, they began the next chapter.
Haley and Josh, thank you for trusting us with something so sacred. Your day was filled with emotion, meaning, and joy in its purest form and we loved being a witness to it.
