Erin and Mike held their vineyard wedding at Preston Ridge Vineyard in Preston, Connecticut; one of my favorite wedding venues in Connecticut. The summer wedding was a dream… complete with a first look, an outdoor ceremony, and a beautiful tented reception.

Every so often there are moments in life where you get the privilege to meet a couple who is so madly in love, that you just know they are the REAL DEAL! I first met Erin and Mike at a wedding expo the year before their wedding, they had a magnetic connection and a contagious energy that I just felt instantly drawn to them! I invited them to the studio where we talked about their wedding plans, how they met and how they fell in love. Erin was so excited to share all her ideas for their vineyard wedding and Mike was beaming with happiness. I knew that their wedding day was going to be filled with such joy and happiness because these two were made for each other.

How it all began

Mike and Erin’s story begins while they were studying abroad in London through the University of Connecticut. Fast forward to one special evening at a Patriots football game. Mike and Erin spent the night cheering for the pats and enjoying each others company. Toward the end, the game Mike surprised Erin when he popped the question while posing for a picture with her. Erin spun around when she saw the ring through the camera and said yes!

The wedding day

The wedding day arrived on a hot, midsummer day! The sun was shining and everyone was anxiously getting ready for the day to begin. The girls helped Erin into her beautiful dress. Inside the dress was a small blue heart cut out from Erin’s late mother’s shirt, it was a beautiful reminder that she was with Erin on this important day.

Erin shared a first look with her father before leaving for the venue. The entire room light up when the Father of the Bride saw this daughter walk out in her stunning gown, they both laughed and cried as he pulled her in tight for a big hug. Her dad’s smile grew as she kissed him on the cheek. Heck… I was smiling wildly behind my camera! It’s capturing moments like these that bring me such joy.

The first look

There is something to be said when you can look at a picture and remember exactly how you felt at that specific moment. Erin and Mike’s first look amongst the vines was a passionate one. You could feel the happiness exuding from the couple. Amidst their quiet moment alone you could hear the birds chirping, and the cicadas in the background humming. When Mike saw Erin for the first time, for a moment time stood still.

Vineyard ceremony

The couple exchanged their vows at the top of the hill overlooking the vineyards below. The red wine colored bridesmaids dresses and tan groomsmen suites made the perfect frame for the bride and groom.

The reception

Preston Ridge Vineyard has a sprawling property, complete with a large barn, a hilltop ceremony site overlooking the vineyards, and a beautiful oversized white tent. Inside the tent, there were accents of gold and red everywhere. The cork and wine theme was tastefully presented throughout their wedding decor. This wedding was the perfect inspiration for anyone planning a Vineyard Wedding.

Before the party started, the DJ’s surprised the audience with a little video of the couple. Inside the tent, you could hear the excitement of the guests… just outside the tent Erin and Mike were sharing a sweet moment alone, as they listened to their own words on their video.

Talk about celebrating until the very last moment. These guests knew how to party! Limelight kept the dance floor packed, they partied until they had to shut us down! #redwhiteandboughton
