From the very beginning, Julia and Joe’s Newport wedding at the OceanCliff Hotel felt deeply intentional. More than a celebration, it was a heartfelt waterfront gathering rooted in family legacy, Italian tradition, and the loved ones who have shaped their story. Every moment of their wedding day carried meaning… layered with emotion, timeless details, and a sense of joy that unfolded effortlessly.
Julia and Joe’s story began back in college at Bentley University, where fate finally stepped in during a senior-year social. A simple conversation sparked by duct tape, a broken sandal, and the discovery of shared Italian roots turned into something neither of them expected; a connection that felt immediate, natural, and lasting. From late nights talking and dancing to quiet moments cooking together and dreaming about the future, their relationship grew with intention and joy.
Joe’s proposal was thoughtfully planned and deeply personal. It took place on a freezing winter day in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where he got down on one knee after ice skating and asked Julia to spend forever with him. She said yes, surrounded later by family, friends, and surprise celebration. That evening was the perfect preview of the life they would continue building together.
On their wedding morning, Julia and Joe both got ready at the OceanCliff Hotel, surrounded by their closest people. Julia spent the morning with her bridesmaids and mom, laughter filling the room as anticipation quietly built. Before she ever saw Joe, she shared an incredibly sweet first look with her dad on the staircase with her mom watching from above. As tears fell, they wrapped each other in a long, loving embrace. It was one of those moments that stops time, reminding everyone present just how powerful family truly is.
Joe prepared upstairs with his groomsmen, calm and excited, eager for the moment he’d finally see his bride. They laughed and toasted to the day and to their friendship.
Their first look took place beneath the stone arch at OceanCliff, adjacent to the gardens. As Joe turned around and saw Julia for the first time, his face said everything. He circled her slowly, taking in every detail of her stunning Paloma Blanca gown, smiling so brightly it was impossible not to feel the joy radiating from them both. That joy never left them… not for the rest of the day, not for the rest of the night.
The bridal party matched their energy perfectly; lively, supportive, and an absolute joy to work with. Their enthusiasm and teamwork kept the timeline flowing smoothly, allowing Julia and Joe to stay present, relaxed, and fully immersed in every moment together.
As guests gathered on the back lawn, anticipation for the ceremony built. OceanCliff’s pergola had been transformed into an elegant waterfront garden, dripping with florals and lush greenery. With the ocean stretching endlessly behind them, Julia and Joe exchanged vows during a ceremony that was heartfelt, personal, and officiated by Julia’s aunt, making it all the more meaningful.
Their first kiss as a married couple? Absolutely magazine-worthy.
Following the ceremony, guests flowed into cocktail hour beneath the tent, mingling and laughing with signature drinks in hand. The raw bar was a crowd favorite, and the salty ocean breeze drifting in from the water created the perfect Newport summer evening atmosphere.
Introductions set the tone for the night; the bridal party entered with infectious energy, and Julia and Joe stole the spotlight as they took to the dance floor, surrounded by cheering loved ones. Heartfelt toasts followed, framed by deep sunset hues painting the sky behind them.
Just before the sun dipped below the horizon, we snuck Julia and Joe away for sunset portraits. It was a quiet pause in the middle of the celebration, where they could breathe, reflect, and soak in the reality of being newly married. It was intimate, peaceful, and absolutely perfect.
Then… the party truly began.
The reception was nothing short of unforgettable. There was singing, dancing, laughter, and a packed dance floor from start to finish. Their proud Italian heritage was woven beautifully throughout the night, from classic Italian songs belted out on the mic (“That’s Amore” included) to the indulgent dessert spread featuring treats from Rhode Island’s beloved Italian cookie makers, Only the Finest. It was a celebration of culture, family, and tradition, exactly the way Julia and Joe envisioned it.
Julia and Joe’s OceanCliff wedding was more than just a beautiful Newport waterfront celebration… it was a love letter to family, heritage, and the life they are building together. From emotional first looks to oceanfront vows, sunset portraits, and a dance floor filled with generations of loved ones, their wedding day honored everything that matters most to them.
A day we won’t soon forget — and one we were deeply honored to tell through our lens.
