Laurel and Vijay tied the knot in the summer of 2020 at the private residence belonging to Laurel’s Mother. The waterfront celebration took place in Warwick Rhode Island, featuring an intimate ceremony overlooking unparalleled views of Narragansett Bay, and a luxuriously decorated tent reception. This dreamy wedding celebration redefines what a luxury back yard wedding looks like.
Laurel and Vijay were introduced to each other by a mutual friend in the spring of 2014. At the time Vijay was living in Baltimore and Laurel was living in Washington, DC. They decided to meet for lunch for their first date. Vijay drove down from Baltimore to a restaurant he chose after doing some research online. Though he thought he left with plenty of time, he didn’t anticipate the traffic driven by the Washing DC Cherry Blossom Festival. He was relieved to find Laurel still at the restaurant when he finally arrived over an hour late to their date! They enjoyed their lunch date immensely, talking effortlessly for hours. Vijay describes their connection as feeling as thought they had known each other for years. When they finally left the restaurant neither of them felt ready to go home yet, they decided to keep the conversation going over drinks at a second location, and their connection grew deeper. Both longing for a second date.
After a few short months of dating Vijay recieved an opportunity for work in Mexico City that he had to take. Around the same time, Laurel was accepted to pursue a master’s degree in Italy. They ended up moving to different countries and despite the distance and time change, made the long distance relationship work. After six months apart, Vijay visited Laurel in Europe. After traveling the continent together, he knew she was the one. Though they wouldn’t be back together in the same country until 2016, their relationship grew. Laurel describes the trip home to Rhode Island, to meet her family as the moment she knew Vijay was the one. He immediately bonded with her twin brothers, connecting over sports and describes it feeling so natural having him sit at the dinner table with them. He even got Mom’s approval.
Vijay was committed to surprising Laurel… They had already discussed the possibility of getting engaged, and Laurel had even given some pointers on what kind of styles of rings she preferred. The evening before Vijay proposed they went to a nice dinner at their favorite restaurant, she was suspicious he might have popped the question there, but he did not. The next morning, he surprised her with breakfast in bed with a “side of ring”. Laurel was over the moon with excitement, and of course said yes!
The summer of 2020 came, and the pandemic was in full-swing. Though their plans might have shifted a bit Laurel and Vijays wedding day was just as happy and joy filled as any wedding day should be. They celebrated their love in Warwick, Rhode Island, at the private residence of Laurel’s Mother.
The beautiful back yard that overlooks Narragansett Bay was transformed into a dreamy waterfront ceremony site, and tented reception. Fresh florals and blue linens abound. The swoon-worthy wedding decor was perfectly executed.
Laurel got ready with her mom by her side. While Vijay and her twin bothers got ready at a nearby hotel.
The boys popped some champagne and toasted to their new (soon to be) Brother in-law. Due to travel restrictions during the global pandemic, Vijays beloved relatives were not able to attend the wedding day. That didn’t stop him from receiving their well wishes and salutations.
As many of our couples do, Vijay and Laurel wanted to prioritize being present with their guests during the celebration. So they chose to share a first look, allowing them to be together as soon as possible. Laurel met Vijay in crushed stone path outside in the front gardens, where they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. It was perfect!
Laurel was simply glowing with joy.
Laurel was walked down the aisle by both her Mom and Dad, where a very happy Vijay awaited his beautiful bride. The wedding ceremony was performed by Laurels twin brothers Nick and Alex Zigerelli, who could have passed as full time officiants!
The celebration was filled with smiling faces, good food and good drinks. Our happy couple danced the night away under the tent, and gleefully stepped into this newest chapter of their life.
